Bazar International de Luxembourg

The Bazar

Since 1960.

What started as a small charity gathering has grown into Luxembourg’s largest international fundraising event. Here’s how we got here.

1960

The beginning

A small group of internationally minded residents in Luxembourg organise the first charity bazaar. What starts as a modest gathering of a few stands quickly captures the city’s imagination.

1967

Official incorporation

The Bazar International de Luxembourg is formally incorporated as an ASBL (non-profit association), giving the event a permanent legal structure and the ability to manage donations transparently.

1970s

Growing momentum

The number of participating countries grows steadily. Embassies begin supporting their national stands. The event moves to larger venues to accommodate growing crowds.

1980s

A Luxembourg institution

The Bazar becomes a fixture on Luxembourg’s cultural calendar. Thousands attend each November. The model of country-based stands run by volunteers becomes the format that endures today.

2000s

International reach

With 50+ stands and a reputation as Luxembourg’s largest charity event, the Bazar begins funding projects on four continents — from schools in Nepal to clean water in Kenya.

2010

Emergency Relief Fund

To mark the Bazar's 50th anniversary, it establishes a dedicated Emergency Relief Fund, enabling rapid response to natural disasters and humanitarian crises worldwide.

2020

Adapting through a pandemic

COVID-19 forces the cancellation of the physical event for the first time in decades. The community rallies with alternative fundraising efforts, proving the Bazar’s resilience goes beyond a single weekend.

2022–2025

A stronger comeback

The Bazar returns stronger than ever — more than 55 stands, over 1,000 volunteers, and record-breaking numbers of visitors and funds raised. Every year brings new charities, new stands, and a new generation of volunteers carrying the mission forward.

2026

The 65th Edition

December 4–6 at LuxExpo The Box. The tradition continues — and the mission remains the same.
